Giovanni Guizzetti was 26 when he arrived in Halifax in 1956. The foreign soil represented a new beginning for the young man, and he was determined to start constructing his future. While he had a vision in mind — to work hard, honestly and respectfully — he had no idea of the incredible success that awaited him in the following 50 years.

As Giovanni’s golden work ethic and motivation to succeed carried him up the corporate ladder, what had started out as a meagre 80 cents per-hour salary soon increased to $40 a day. Life tossed him another golden opportunity when he married the beautiful Luisa in 1960, and they settled in the town of Richmond Hill — a place that would in time become the home of the Guizzetti legacy.

Giovanni’s years of tireless labour built the foundation for Guizzetti Corporation, the construction powerhouse recognized for erecting state-of-the-art residential, industrial and commercial buildings in the Richmond Hill area. These projects are more like monuments that have evolved the town’s reputation, establishing its identity as an admirable place to work and live.

“He doesn’t do anything mediocre,” says son Stefano Guizzetti. “I’ve always admired my father’s integrity — his word means everything.” Stefano, who now stands as president of Guizzetti Corporation, carries on the family legacy.

A testament to the fortified bond between father and son, the company’s success has revolutionized the Yonge Street Corridor, and continues to galvanize the real estate industry with refined, high-quality living spaces.
